Community Councils are a formal part of the Elliot Foundation Academy Trust’s governance structure and play a vital role in connecting each academy, its staff, and its pupils to the wider community. They meet three times a year, for two to three hours, and have four core functions;

The Community Council:
Is an advisory group of volunteers who are representative of the school community; including the Principal, staff, parents and community members.
Provides a forum for school leaders, staff and the Trust Board to communicate meaningfully with representatives from the school’s parent body and local community, so that the views and needs of the wider school community are understood and can inform decision making.
Community Council members should:
Hold the highest aspirations for all pupils.
Foster proactive relationships with local organisations, businesses, and services to enhance the experience of the school’s pupils.
Offer local knowledge to help Trustees understand the lived experience of families and emerging themes, opportunities, or challenges within the local area.
Always act in the best interests of the school as a whole.
Accountable for educational outcomes, budgets, estates, compliance or HR: these lie with the Principal, Operations Group and Trust Board.
Responsible for the operational running of the academy: operational decisions rest with the senior leadership team.
A forum for members to air their personal grievances or raise concerns or complaints from the group they are representative of. The academy has policies and procedures in place to support parents, staff and the community to raise concerns through the appropriate channels.
