PE is a unique subject which allows your child to shine and succeed in many different ways. We believe that physical education should be enjoyed by every child in a safe and supportive environment. Developing confidence, teamwork and resilience, PE gives all children the opportunity to experience a variety of physical activity. In and out of lesson, we make time for children to develop their skills, enjoy exercise and achieve.
Sport-led activities are at the centre of PE at the Hyde, building towards intra-competitions in school and Barnet wide tournaments and leagues. Children are taught the skills sets needed to independently take part in lessons. As children progress through the school they build upon their skills allowing them to apply them in game situations. Throughout every year, children will work as a teams as well as develop individual skills, which will stay with them all their life!
A bespoke progression of skills create building blocks to support the development of key attributes (acquiring and developing) which can be applied to key stages and year groups. This is both sport specific and skill based allowing children to apply what they have learnt in a range of activities and settings. Through KS2 learning, ‘team games’ are more evident with children focusing more on selecting and applying their skills, as well as the tactical aspects of team games. The PE lead supports and teaches across all year groups, ensuring the quality of the provision and progression is consistent.
